BharatPe co-founder and former MD Ashneer Grover returns to fintech space with this new app

BharatPe co-founder and former managing director Ashneer Grover is set to make his comeback to the fintech space with a new app. Named ZeroPe, this app will offer medical loans to its users.

According to the app’s Google Play Store listing (which is still in testing), it has been developed by a company called Third Unicorn. Grover founded this company after his exit from BharatPe. In 2023, the company launched a fantasy gaming platform, called CrickPe.

What is ZeroPe and how it worksZeroPe has partnered with Delhi-based Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) Mukut Finvest to offer instant pre-approved medical loans of up to Rs 5 lakhs. The company’s official website says that the app’s services can only be availed at partnered hospitals.


Potential healthcare financing market in IndiaApart from Grover’s ZeroPe, several other apps like Fibe, SaveIn, Neodocs, Kenko Qube Health, Arogya Finance and Mykare Health also offer instant financing solutions for medical bills and other select treatments.


Multiple digital-first startups offer data-driven medical loans for patients across all healthcare needs of patients. This includes hospitalisation, home care and chronic care management. For this, the apps integrate hospital networks, health insurance providers and government healthcare schemes into their platforms

As per a joint report by consulting firm Boston Consulting Group and Singapore-based venture capital firm B Capital, India’s digital healthcare market is expected to generate $37 billion in revenue by 2030. Out of this, healthcare financing is predicted to reach $5 billion.

What is Third Unicorn In January 2023, Grover founded Third Unicorn along with his wife Madhuri Jain Grover and Chandigarh-based entrepreneur Aseem Ghavri.

The company started out with fantasy gaming app CrickPe to take on rivals such as Dream11, Mobile Premier League (MPL) and Games24x7’s My11Circle.
