Apple Music users will soon allow users to import songs and playlists into their library.
In good news for Apple Music app users, transferring favourite tracks and playlists across different music services will become easier than ever before. The Cupertino-based tech giant will soon allow users to import songs and playlists into their library from rival apps such as Spotify.
A report from MacRumors says that Apple Music is trying out this new feature. It was first noticed by a Reddit user in the latest Apple Music beta for Android. The report revealed that the feature could be a collaborative effort with SongShift, a long-running third-party service that enables users to transfer their music libraries and playlists between different music streaming services.
Pictures posted on Reddit reveal new messages in Apple Music for Android, offering to “add saved music and playlists from other music services to your Apple Music library.” This option is also visible in the settings of the Android app.
The feature isn’t working for everyone using the beta version yet. This suggests that Apple is still in the early stages of testing the feature. They might be using a method called A/B testing, where they compare two versions of the app. Some users see one version, while others see a different one. They’ll use statistics to figure out which version works better for what they want to achieve, the report said.
Other companies have offered services to transfer music for a while, but they often have limited features unless you pay a one-time fee or subscribe. It is not confirmed if Apple Music will fully develop the SongShift integration, but if they do, it might show up in the Apple Music app for Apple devices eventually.
Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly planning to bring two new colour options to the iPhone 16 Pro Models. The leaker known as Majin Bu has suggested that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models might introduce two new colours — Desert Titanium and Titanium Gray.
According to his recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Desert Titanium is expected to resemble the Gold colour option from the iPhone 14 Pro, but with a deeper and richer tone. Meanwhile, Titanium Gray is said to have to the Space Gray shade seen on the iPhone 6 back in 2014.
