Follow a family-friendly treasure hunt with new features on our free fun app

Interactive family scavenger hunts, quizzes and pop-up event notifications are among a host of new features to be added to Stroud District Council’s popular Discover Stroud Trails app ready for the Easter holiday.

Discover Stroud Trails is a is a free-of-charge walking app designed to help people make the most of the Stroud district, whether they are locals who want to discover more about their home town, or first time visitors to the area.

The apps new features include hunts to find hidden historical features in the district’s towns while collecting online badges and taking part in fun quizzes. A new nature hunt has also been added that invites young explorers to discover features around Stratford Park in Stroud.

Friends and family can compete to score the highest marks in the quizzes or collect the most badges.

SDC has collaborated with www.visitstroud.uk developed by Stroud & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce, to upload local events throughout the year which will pop up and let users know when an event is happening nearby.

More than 2,000 users have downloaded the app since it was launched in 2022, and 4,437 trails have been followed.

A Stroud District Council spokesperson said: “It’s great news that that the Discover Stroud Trails app has been so popular with users and I’m sure the new features will appeal to both existing and new users.”

“Ensuring everyone has access to high quality leisure opportunities that meet their needs is one of the priorities in our Council Plan and the app will help families entertain their children during the current cost-of-living crisis.”

Supporting a thriving and resilient local economy is another objective of our Council Plan and Discover Stroud Trails will give a boost to our market towns and provide information for visitors to help them get the most of their time here.

Further hunts will be added to the app over the coming months which will be themed around food, drink, activities and discovering little known secrets of the district.
