What Is NoteIt App & How Do You Use It?
Ever wish there was an app that made it easy to share notes with your friends or partner — and even have those notes show up right on their iPhone home screen? That’s exactly what the ‘NoteIt‘ app promises to do, and learning how to use it is pretty simple. Apps have begun to take advantage of recent smartphones’ use of widgets. Locket Widget exploded at the beginning of the year as a unique way to share photos with friends. Rather than posting pictures on social media, sharing them with friends on Locket Widget adds them directly to friends’ home screens.
NoteIt is another smartphone app that stands out for being something special. It was originally released in June 2021, but it wasn’t until February 2022 that the app started gaining popularity. It got so popular, in fact, that it was at one point the #1 Entertainment app App Store — and the #1 free app in general. The idea behind NoteIt is fairly simple. Two people download the app, sync their accounts together, and then use NoteIt to send notes back and forth. Notes are viewable in the NoteIt app and on your iPhone home screen (thanks to the NoteIt widget).
How To Use The NoteIt App
Getting started with NoteIt is as easy as any other modern app. First, download the ‘NoteIt – Drawing App‘ from the App Store and create an account. Once your account is created, users are prompted to share their ‘link code’ with another NoteIt user. Tap ‘Share,’ choose how you want to send the code, and share with whomever you want to use NoteIt with. Alternatively, if someone invited you to use NoteIt, enter their code in the ‘Already have your partner’s code?‘ box and tap ‘Link.’ Once you or your friend has entered the other person’s code and tapped the ‘Link‘ button, both users’ apps will update so they can start using it.
From there, using NoteIt is fairly easy. To send a new note, tap the ‘+’ icon in the screen’s upper-right corner and create whatever kind of note you want. There are a few different drawing tools available, including a marker, highlighter, pencil, eraser, ruler, and lasso tool. Tap the ‘Save‘ button once you’re finished, and just like that, the note is sent to the other user. NoteIt says it may take up to 15 minutes for new notes to appear, but they should be available almost instantly.
In addition to seeing notes in the NoteIt app, it’s also easy to make them appear right on your home screen. From any of your iPhone home screens, tap and hold on an app or widget, tap ‘Edit Home Screen,’ tap the ‘+’ icon in the upper-left corner, scroll down the page of widgets, tap ‘NoteIt,’ choose which size you want, and then tap ‘Add Widget.’ Within a couple of seconds, the widget should update to display the most recently-received note. And that’s really all there is to it. Download the NoteIt app, link your account with a close friend or partner, and start sending each other notes right away.
Apple released widgets in 2020 with iOS 14, finally bringing to iPhone a feature that’s long existed on Android phones. It’s opened the door for greater creativity on the Home and Lock screens, not to mention even more practicality. In addition to fun widgets like NoteIt and Locket, iPhone users can create widgets to get important information at a glance, like weather or their scheduled events for the day. iPhone users can adjust the size and position of their widgets, and even create “stacks” of multiple widgets on top of each other which can be set to rotate throughout the day.
